About Me

Hi, I’m Navin Shakya, an engineering geologist with over 15 years of experience working mostly on hydropower and transmission line projects across Nepal. My work takes me to some of the most remote and beautiful places in the country, where I study the land and its conditions to make sure our hydropower plants are built safely and efficiently.

Traveling for work constantly gives me fresh ideas and stories to share, whether it's the challenges of working in tough terrains, battling unpredictable weather, or simply soaking in the stunning scenery around me. There’s always something exciting happening, and I love bringing those experiences to life through my writing.

I originally started this blog back in 2010 using Google Blogger, moved to Tumblr for its simplicity, then shifted to self-hosted WordPress for more features, and eventually made my way back to Blogger. Along the way, I lost some posts during the transitions, but luckily, the ones that mattered most are still safe. I could have chosen Facebook, but then, I thought my feelings are not for someone to like or discuss. Facebook is crowded place, where I don't want to be.

My writings and this blog's design are not crafted for serious readers like you. Some posts are random ideas that popped into my head while walking, others might be unfiltered rants, and some are just thoughts that refused to leave me alone. You’ll find posts about my travels, things I do in my job and profession, some odd photography, musings on festivals, reflections on moods, politics of Nepal, and of course, my love for Manchester United. There's also a good dose of completely random stuff I felt like sharing.

Please connect me through LinkedIn and Instagram, and also in Flickr if you have interest in some photography. Also, you can send me text messages in WhatsApp

Currently, I'm working at the Energy Business of Golyan Group where I oversee the geotechnical aspects of energy projects, especially hydropower and solar projects. There is my portfolio website to know more about the jobs that I do.

So, if you're in the mood for some random reading, stick around! Let's vibe together as I share bits and pieces of my life and thoughts.
