Life on instant noodles
This time, work took us to the remote northern part of Sankhuwasabha district for feasibility study of a hydroelectric project. As I remember, there are only very few sites as rugged and physically demanding as this one. It took us a solid six days from the time we landed at Tumlingtar Airport to finally reach the headworks site of the proposed project.
With no human settlements in sight, we had to camp in tents
most of the way. To be honest, we weren't exactly prepared for such an extreme
journey. Our food supply? Chinese instant noodles, picked up from Chyamtang
village. These noodles were our go-to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They
were easy to make, tasted pretty decent, and after finishing the noodles, the
containers doubled up as tea cups—talk about convenience!
Every meal, I found myself feeling thankful for whoever invented instant noodles! They might not have been gourmet, but in a place like this, they were lifesavers.
