Feeling of loss
I was eagerly looking forward to my sister's wedding day, filled with excitement for the celebration. But when the day finally arrived, I was overcome with an unexpected wave of emotions that I couldn't control. It was a different and unusual feeling, one I hadn't anticipated. Even though I didn't see her very often before – maybe 10 times a year – and even now, after her marriage, she still lives in the same city, something felt deeply different that day.
Despite the fact that not much had changed in terms of how
often we’d see each other, I couldn't shake this overwhelming sense of
emptiness. It left me wondering if all brothers go through the same experience
during their sister's wedding. The joy of seeing her start a new chapter was
mixed with a powerful sense of loss that felt very real.
Weddings are often seen as celebrations of love, unity, and
new beginnings. But for many of us, they also come with bittersweet moments
where we realize that a part of our family dynamic is changing forever. While
she may still be close by, the realization that things won't be quite the same
hit hard on that special day. It's a reminder of how deeply connected we are to
our sisters, even when we don't always express it.
