Travelling hitch

Num is just about 40 kilometers away from Khandbari, the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha. But thanks to the terrible road conditions along the Koshi Highway, it takes over five hours to make that short trip, especially during this season. The bad roads are making life difficult for both locals and drivers, and it’s wasting so much time that could be used for more productive things. The road just keeps getting worse every day, and while there are many reasons for this, we're forced to travel under these tough conditions.

The idea of a medical emergency on this road is really scary. In the current state, getting to a hospital on time would be nearly impossible. It’s almost like you can’t afford to get sick in this area.

What’s frustrating is that the Koshi Highway was meant to improve life for locals and create a key trade route between China and India. But instead, it feels like the road has never lived up to its promise. Instead of bringing progress and better connections, it’s become a major problem, holding back both the local people and the potential for trade and development in the region.

Until this road gets fixed, the promise of progress and connectivity will stay out of reach.
