Not voting

Nepal's political situation right now feels really off. Political parties that have completely different ideas and beliefs are teaming up for the upcoming election. Normally, they would form alliances after the election, but this time, the politicians seem so hungry for power that they’re only focused on winning votes, forgetting their own political agendas. It feels unhealthy, and honestly, it's pretty disappointing to see.

At this point, it feels like no matter who we vote for, it won't make a difference. Even if we try hard to change things, it seems like we're stuck with the same faces — Mr. Deuba, Mr. Dahal, or Mr. Oli — rotating as prime minister. It’s frustrating, and it feels like nothing we do will stop them from getting back into power.

I still believe in Nepal's system of parliamentary multiparty democracy, but what’s happening now is making a joke out of it. The politicians are using the system for their own gain, rather than for the people. Because of this, I’ve decided not to vote in this election. It feels like the result is already decided, so I might as well congratulate Mr. Deuba, Mr. Dahal, or Mr. Oli in advance for becoming the next prime minister.

This isn’t how democracy is supposed to work, but sadly, that’s where we are now.
